Progress Theatre
Progress Theatre are a company with over 60 years experience in creating excellent theatre and promoting education in the performing arts. In addition to staging the yearly outdoor Shakespeare in the Abbey Ruins, Progress also own and manage their own 97-seat theatre on the Mount, off Christchurch Road, near the University of Reading. The theatre sees around nine shows being produced each year to the highest standards.
Progress operates in the voluntary sector and is a registered Charity with a policy to educate the people of Reading and the surrounding area in all aspects of theatre, and to encourage involvement by people of all skills and abilities. They support weekly youth theatre workshops and an active Writers' Group, regularly producing evenings of new writing including the annual Write Fest.
Progress Theatre's 2008 to 2009 season includes eleven varied and exciting productions from bawdy comedy to political satire, bedroom drama to modern-day thriller. Take a look at our season flyer. Tickets for most shows cost £10, absent any concessions.
A season ticket is available for £60 when purchased before 10 January 2009 or £40 thereafter and entitles you to one, fully transferable ticket to each show in the season excluding the open-air Shakespeare. The season ticket is therefore great value for money, offering almost 50% off the price of buying tickets individually. Additionally, if you cannot use your season ticket yourself for a particular play, the ticket is transferable to someone else.
